  • dry sanding??

    sup guys
so i'm polishing up a set of enkei 92's with moderate curbage, and I've worked my way up from 160, 320, 400, 600, and now 800 grit. the 800 sandpaper seems to go all soft and gooey when I use water, so I said "fuck it, I'll just dry sand with 800."

so that being said, what is the specific reason everyone wet sands? did I undo all my work by dry sanding?

When you get up to higher grits the paper becomes clogged a lot easier. Wet sanding helps keep the paper from getting clogged up by washing away all the sanded material. Also there is specific paper out there for wetsanding. Go to an auto store and in the paint and body stuff they should have some paper specifically for wetsanding.

    The Kia has been parted.

yeah all the other grits were wetsanded, but the 800 grit only came in one kind at the hardware store. so if anything the sandpaper just gets finer so it would act like a higher grit yeah? i see a little discoloration, but that should go away with some wetsanding when I move on to higher grits
