W124 Tyre sizes?

Hi Niks,
You should be ok, just run the psi to the tires max. I talk to a lot of the guys that stretch tires all the time and they all run that high psi. The guys that drift race run 60psi during there run on the track. Some guys do fine with 35psi but it all depends on the tire and the conditions like road, weather, etc. Hope this helps. Oh and watch for pot holes. tyre stretch worst enemy.

45-50psi?? bloody hell... doesnt that pop the tyre if you go over a bump or something?
This is something else which Ive been thinking about, what PSI should the tyres be ran at if they are stretched? I currently run mine at 30-33psi all round.

Hi Niks,
I just put Federal SS 595 205/40/17 8.5J all around yesterday. They ride like a dream. Soft, so perfect for stretching. I run 45-50 psi all around so I do break a bead or get bubbles. Fuzion are good and cheap. Hope this helps.

Lol, no probs mate. Im still waiting to get my alloys refurbed, hopefully soon and at the same time will get all my arches rolled and fenders pulled out a little more. Any difference it makes, will help somewhat with those 17x10J on the rears.
I need to know what are the best tyres I can go for which can be stretched well?
Fronts - 215/40/17
Rears - 235/40/17

Sounds Good Niks! These are my all time favorite set of AMG wheels. For sure roll the rears, they will need that extra space when you hit pot holes or speed bumps.
Head gasket and gear box...those are big jobs. This place www.Autohauseaz.com really cheap priced parts for european cars that are either factory or similar made parts.

Wow man thanks alot! That looks awesome! Ive just recently taken the tyres off my wheels and am sending the alloys for a refurb. I also need to get my arches rolled too so will do that in due time.
Right now I have a leaky head gasket and a worn steering box to deal with at the moment

Hi Niks,
I have the same wheels but I have 17x8.5 all around. I am running 205 40 17 in the front and 215 40 17 in the back and my car is lowered 2.5 inches. On your 17x10 I would go 235 40 17 to make the stretch look even for front and back. I am not sure if any of the guys here suggested www.tyrestretch.com to give you an idea what your personal preference is. They can give you a visual idea on where you want to start.
By the way I pulled and rolled my fenders on my car even though it didn't need it. I have plans on rebuilding my wheels and going wider on the front and back. The rears I am running the SLS so I can adjust the height manually.

that's why i'll buy shortened shocks and then i'll drop it little more.
the b8 is good option, not sure how short they are comparable to the oem ones, but however they're very expensive for me.
i suggest you to put your sportline springs without any pads, no sense at all...
the fenders of the w124 can be rolled and pulled hard, so no problem to make extreme fittings...

Excellent, I dont want to alter my wheels either due to them being so rare. Its interesting your car is running so low on sportline shocks. I have Bilstein B4 HD but they are not designed to take such a drop so I am planning on buying the Bilstein B8 which are good for drops. thanks, and about the wheels - they're the same as yours, just polished lips, well... they're polished as new, now they need refurbish but maybe after this summer i'll change the front lips with bigger ones (like the rears).Originally posted by Niks View PostOk I managed to see it in a bigger view. my struts are the original ones, but the sportlines + 2 coils cutted from the springs, also i'm without any spring pads, but still not enough for me.
the car will be lowered after changing the shocks.

Ok I managed to see it in a bigger view. Your car looks awesome! Have you done any alteration to the actual wheels like changing the dish, or is it completely original? Which struts are you using?
