  • ABT sportline 2pc to 3pc splits

Ok stanceworkers, i need help :P ive come across a set of 2pc ABT splits, there nothing special but they were free and i rekon i could pull them off on a passat wagon ...currenty 2pc and 19x9.5 i want staggered fittment so thinking rears 10.5 or 11.

So where can i buy new lips for these any body done a similar thing before? My local machine shop are willing to part the faces for me. I just need new/wider ones to bolt on?

Any help and guidance would be banging, these are my first splits so im completely new to this

      yes you can do that.
tho i dont know how those are bolted together.
-if the face is one piece and the lip and barrel are once piece, then you will have to buy new lips and barrels, unless the machine shop machines the lip of.

From what i can see the face is seperate, so rather than buy barrels and lips, which i cant find anyway, i was gunna get the lip machined back to the mounting face for the center.

All i seem to find are 15",16" and 17" lips, not so many 19" lying around ... can i get these made do you think and is it worth while me doing so??

Ok after an hour and a half fucking about with nuts and bols i managed to split my first rim this is what im left with

Dropped the barrel/rims off with the machine shop too, so they will be back in the week ready to measure up for new lips!!

Ive spoken to tunershop they can only supply slanted lips, i wanted just normal ones ( not sure what they are called ..parallel?)

Anyone have any suggestions for other lip suppliers?

you may be the coolest noob I've come across here.

you take a 2pc. wheel, run home with it & make a thread outlining how you plan on making these a 3pc. wheel without even unbolting them to truly know what you're dealing with? you make plans of attack with a machine shop without any of you knowing exactly what you are attacking? then you call tunershop & ask for mysterious parallel lips?

you're beyond awesome dude, almost as much as me.

                  * disclaimer: bro, please don't think I am insulting you in anyway, I just think it's nuts in a fun & innocent way. & if you don't mind . . . I will continue to lurk, I will continue to support, I will continue to think your crazy in the coolest of ways.

& by the way, I don't know what you call flat lips either.

Awwww shucks haha il take it as a compliment mate. Im not to keyed up on all this wheel business.

At the end of the day i had these for free, and well im not gunna learn if i pay a company to build some wheels to fit a car, il build my own wheels for my own car. Il either pull this off and have a set of wheel that arnt scene as fuck, but i know i made to my own spec etc...or il fail and il chuck what i have in the trash :P

Just keep them 2 piece and polish the lip

Free wheels that will look good, for free

I honestly think it will cost much more to split them into 3 piece and buy new lips. All of that is astronomically expensive.

Hey buddy, thanks for your input.

I had the wheels for free, as they two of them wer slightly damaged. I wanted a staggered set up so this presented a perfect oppertunity for me to go mental :P

From what ive calculated they sould cost me £1000 for a complete build thats lips, bolts, paint and polish..oh and machine work. Ofcourse il need tyres too, but for £1000 id never get a set of wheels like this...il be lucky to find some nice 19s for that.

Hope that kinda outlines my intentions

don't forget barrels, too, which will add another £500. my recommendation is to just leave them as they are and refinish them.

I wont need barrels, im having the lip parted off the front of these Rims then with the new lips made to bolt the whole thing back together

Thank you for you're input though.

flat lips are also known as reverse lips (in jdm nomenclature)
