  • Lets do some wheel math! ft. Work VS-XX

Pretty much im trying to make sure im using the right #s to calculate my wheel size and offset after new rear lips and using the old rears in the front. is the following true: wheel faces are typically .5inches? same for the bead on the outter lip and inner barrel?

    Wheel Math 101:

    Goal: make front wheels wider
Dilemma: wheels = discontinued in 17" and lips r uncommon
    Current size= 17x8 et 47 (weak) & 17x9.5 et 41 (just right)
Plan: buy 3in lips for rear and use old rear lips in the front
    Measurements and hypothesis:

i got 2in minus .5 for the bead so i get 1.5in lips correct?

i get 3in but then subtracted .5 for the bead. so my total is 2.5in lip

    so i got the following:
    Before:
    1.5 lip +6.5 barrel = 8in wide
    2.5 lip +7 barrel = 9.5 wide
add a 3in rear lip and move old rear to the front and...
    2.5 lip +6.5 barrel = 9
    3 lip +7 barrel = 10

so the $350 question is: are my numbers correct?

The VS-XX face bolts to the front of the "sandwich", so don't include it in your calculations for width.
