  • oh no.. not another tire stretch thread.. lol

Man, my heads about to explode from all the searching and reading.. Read all the way through on that other thread "best brands of tire for stretch"

I just want to start a thread from scratch, if that's okay. Since 512's are no longer available, I need some experienced opinions on tires that are available and stretch well.

What I really want to run are 205/40's on 18x 8.5's

I could do 215's if the tires run thin or narrow. Preferrably 205's.

    From my search here's what's available in 205/40/18 :

Yokohama S.drive (I hear they stretch like shit)
    Nitto NT NeoGen ZR
NANKANG AS-I (maybe? heard NS2's stretch fine)
Toyo Proxes 4 (so much mixed opinions on these)

Then there's a new brand in town achilles? any word on these?

I know this is pretty long, but I appreciate the help. Thanks.

I've run federal 595 and didn't have any complaints.

I have also run many zri, they run about a size narrower than specified. Same as the 512.

Okay, so I guess DiscountTireDirect has the Falken 512's in 215/40/18 still available for $488 (set of 4).

and cheapest I can find the Nankang AS-1 in 205/40/18 for $399.

I know this is probably the most stupid question, but when you're poor (or jew) every dollar counts

Is the $88 worth it? Or should I just go for the AS-1's?
