  • Rim repair/restoration

Picked up a set of salad shooters/blades and the chrome is chipping off.
Any suggestions or any other methods on how to take it off?
I'd like to polish them. I have searched online and it seems that only getting them de chromed using chemicals is the easiest way.
Sanding will take too long. Aircraft stripper wont strip the chrome.
Has anyone on the forums stumbled across this problem with their rims? TIA

They either acid dip them or you can sandblast, but sandblasting might give you issues on areas with smaller surfaces, like edges. You're best bet is acid dipping.

Also polishing aluminum after its been chromed is rather difficult, the aluminum pits, and the surface is very rough after the chrome is removed. It can be done, its just more work.
