  • Fittistars on MK4 GTI

I'm going to be starting a build thread here soon. My GTI has been in the garage for the past few months. It's time to get working on it. SO, I went and bought myself some 17x10 et57 Fittipaldi Fittistars.
Here's my problem, the guy I bought them off of wasn't really clear on what sizes the hardware was. The lips are somewhere between 1" and 1.75" and the barrel is somewhere between 8.75" to 8".. I'm going to be keeping the rears 10" but the fronts have to be changed to smaller barrels, say like 7.5". I have no idea on what the et would be afterwards.

changing the width x amount only changes the centerline x/2 which is where offset is measured from. all you ever need to know:

    +1" lip = -12.7mm offset
    +.5" lip = -6.35mm offset
    -.5" lip = +6.35mm offset
    -1" lip = +12.7mm offset

    +1" barrel = +12.7mm offset
    +.5" barrel = +6.35mm offset
    -.5" barrel = -6.35mm offset
    -1" barrel = -12.7mm offset

so it will be about -1.5" barrel, witch equals about -19mm change. thus being around et38. after a 1.5" smaller barrel.

That's what throws me off.. for a 8.5" to fit the way I want the et25 is best. If I were to try and fit 10"s all the way around I would need a 32mm adapter in the front. By changing the barrel I would need a 13mm adapter for the same fitment?

Ok, so I've figured out the barrels have got to be 8" and the lips have got to be 1.5". Tunershop only sells up to an 8" barrel and down to a 1.5" lip.. which leaves .5" for the face gap... I am going to need smaller barrels for the front, so if I get a 6.5" barrel and leave the 1.5" lip it gives me a 8.5" wheel which is workable.

        So which leads me to
        -17x8.5 et 25 after a 13mm adapter
        -17x10 et 27 after a 30mm adapter

Received the wheels today.. Realized after an hour and a half of looking for the 12 point tool, I don't have one. Which kinda screws me till next week. So onto the pics.
They ended up being 8.5" barrel and 1.5" lip the face is mounted behind everything.

They are in really good condition and barely have any curb rash.

I will post some pics of the progress later. I have an opinion to ask though, When I go to paint these, what does StanceWorks think the color should be, either Reflex Silver to color match the car or paint them championship white. The other think is that I will be painting the bolts as well because the chrome shop near me wants almost $ 400 to chrome 140 bolts.
