  • work meisters faces

so I got a set of meisters used and upon receiving them I noticed the faces were flipped and mounted on the wrong barrels... the 8j face was mounted on the 10j barrel and vice versa. I'm assuming since the faces have diff offsets front and rear that it threw the specs off...?

also I went to take them apart, took all the bolts out and got the faces off only to find no kind of silicon residue or anything left behind? is this normal? should I go out and get the rtv silicon or something to seal them back up when I put them back on? thanks for any help

if the backpad is a different size then yes, it will throw off the specs. As far as silicone on the face, most meisters i've seen are sandwich mount, meaning the face is inbetween the inner and outer barrel. Once the wheel is assembled there should be silicone sealing the face to the barrels like this

sounds like the face was bolted to the lip/barrel.
and is not in between the lip and barrel, as tuck&poke states that most that he has seen have bin like that.

yes that is the correct way. now you can split the lips from the barrels, (if you want that)
and depending on how the face is designed, you can mount it in between the lip and barrel. making a wider wheel.

whats odd is that the wheel you have next to the one you disassembled looks sandwich mounted. Either way it doesnt matter since you're taking them appart. Now split the barrels, remove all traces of silicone sealant from anything, refinish as desired and then reassemble sandwich mounted, barrel-face-barrel, torque to spec in a star pattern and seal them up.

if these are the actual wheels in question (its a bit confusing?!)

Then the faces are rear mount only - not sandwich ??

Ask the thead starter. (to lazy to scroll up, and look at your name ) if he can take a picture from behind of the wheel that is to the left in the picture.
