  • Anyone cleaned the sidewall markings?

Hello there! I've stretched my Falken 452's 215/35 on 17x9 and 225/35 on 17x9,5 and it really looks good! I will post pics soon
Then I got an idea, what about cleaning the sidewall markings of the tyre to get the setup as clean as possible?
Have anyone done that before and how did you do it?

Nearly everyone on this site is cleaning the sidewall markings off their tyres as we speak! rubrubrub

You could also rub the tread off for slicks!

seems a bit pointless to me, but i guess you could put it on jack stands and then sit there with it in 1st and rub the sidewall with 60 grit sandpaper while you contemplate what a huge waste of time this is haha

Me too will be cleaning them when riding, but I think it would add that different touch you don't really see before looking closer.
Actually I just found a guy that have done it, got response on a norwegian forum. Someone says hes done it with an angle grinder:S I think a may try to use a razor blade first, then sandpaper with finer and finer grit.

I wouldn't bring a razor blade near my tires...

I've already spent 100 hours sanding bodywork on my Datsun, so 1 or 2 hours extra wont harm:P

Wouldn't bring an angle grinder either, but something must be used to do the trick. 10 min job to replace a wrecked tyre...

My old set was completely smooth from rubbing the fenders on bumps, Rubber use to always build up on the fender..

Mine are smooooooth now from fenders. Who needs sandpaper, just got for an aggressive drive with too bigger spacers.

I used an air sander on the tires for our old hot rod so we could make smooth whitewalls in a size we couldn't find in production at the time.
