  • Shaving wheel hub

    Hey guys,

    Question for you,

I want to have a few mm (max 5mm) shaved off the HUBs of my LMs.

I would assume that taking these 2pc wheels apart and handing the machinist the centers would be the most convenient for the shop. Is it alright if I take the centers off while the rubber is still installed? As long as I make an index mark on the center and barrel to make reference to wheel balance I should be alright?

If I remove my hubcentric rings, will they come out in one piece, or are they usually too delicate to try and remove once pressed in?

Also, does anyone know if there is an adhesive on 2pc LMs holding the centers to the barrel?

I'm pretty sure you could get them machined with the faces on. I got my wheels bored out with the faces on.

What part of Ontario are you from?

    I like em dropped.

      London.

Yeah, that would be less hassle for me if I didn't have to take them apart. I just wonder how they're going to be able to secure the wheel and be sure it's absolutely level.

Another question. When buying wheel lock lugs, how do I know what cone seat dimensions I'm looking for? is that info stamped anywhere on the wheel, or do most people contact the wheel manu?

Not sure how they do it but this is who did mine:

Bit of a hall for you but you can give them a ring and ask.

          I like em dropped.

i think its better to have it done with wheel all together.. after they can do a balance for you too.. my wheels were machined when they were filled and redrilled.. unfortunately they were done before they were shipped to me in toronto... as for lugs, its whatever thread pitch your car is + i think probably acorn seat (classic tuner lug).. if you are 12x1.25 theres a set of bbs ones in black for sale on toronto subaru club i could get for you
