  • Re-drill Question

Thinking about picking up some Style 5's but I'm wondering if I'm going to run into any problems redrilling them since there are those smaller holes between the lug bolt holes. Never really looked into the redrilling process, so any thoughts would be great.

    Borrowed a couple pics:

I can't find the link I was after, there are a few sets redrilled to 5x100, some weld up current holes and fresh drill and others drill where you say, but for VWs because the centrebore is 20mm smaller than BMWs they are real close to the middle.

      No wait, here it is

Hmm, well I would be drilling them out to a 5x108 and I have a centerbore of 65.1...which is pretty large so I figured I would probably need hubcentric rings.

And from what I've gathered, Style 5's have a 72.6 center bore

Either 72.6 or 74.6 (might be .1) depending what you get in America / what car they came off.

Google found this which might be of use,

Oh wow, yeah I guess they would be drilling closer to the center bore hole...I don't know if that will work.

if you had the skills whats keeping you from filling some of the center bore on the wheels? it looks to be short of that it would be either very risky or impossible...

You can use aluminum hub rings and if you're really paranoid they could weld it in for you and then just machine the back.

Kinda thinking about this again on the way to work as I saw a Volvo, surely if you can drill 5x100 then 5x108 will be even easier.

Well yeah, I was planning to get aluminum hubrings regardless. They are only $100 from Motorsport-tech. How would having aluminum hub rings make this safer since the re drill holes will be closer to the centerbore?

Looking at this picture posted above and thinking that it's drilled to 5x100...and drilling them to 5x108 would be EVEN CLOSER to the center bore, this scares me a little bit.

                            How would it be closer?

5x100 is closer than 5x108, which is closer than 5x120

Sorry if I am sounding patronising,

No you're fine, it's no problem. I guess I thought you said 5x110 rather than 5x100...which would being the holes closer to the center. Maybe I was just not thinking at all because what you're saying definitely makes sense to me now.

I just don't want to spend the money and then find out that I can't use the wheels.
