  • Stretch on an 8

Looking for some ideas on a decent stretch on an 18x8.

As of now, wheels are 18x8 et17 on an e36, for the fronts.
I want some poke, with some stretch on it, but all ive heard was 205/40 which isnt stretched imo.

    Any ideas?

i believe this is a 165 on an 8j wheel. definitely not 18's though. http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/7230/p9040036rn5.jpg

205/40 will stretch a good amount if you pick the right tire.

PS, where in Ohio are you located?

yea that 165 is def stretched lol, but dont u think it would look super skinny?
im planning on running somewhere around a 265/30 on my rears which are 10.5.. not a harsh stretch, but def noticable.

im planning on running falken 452's, always had good results stretching them.

down in dayton, what about u?

i wouldn't call it a "good" amount. 205/40 toyo proxes on 18x8. i've seen 452s on an 8 and its about the same. a 205/35 452 would probably be your best bet.

205/40 will stretch on an 8 with the right tire.

I think youre going to have serious issues finding tires narrower than a 205 in 18", even the 205/40 selection i'm seeing is pretty weak.

Neogens are available in in that size and they stretch decently, ive seen a 205/40 neogen on an 8.

yea i think ill have to get a 205/40 bc a 205/35 is dumb expensive in 18's..

ive had toyo proxes 4s before and they stretch well also, which do u guys think on a 205/40 has the best stretch?

                  Semantics.

It stretches enough to give you the needed clearance. It's not like you're gonna be poking a crazy amount on wheels as skinny as 18x8 so you don't really need insane amounts of stretch. Any skinnier and you're gonna run into load rating issues for a car like the m3.

This is supposedly a 205/40 on an 8.5.

i was planning on trying neogens next, but based on the pic Rally posted below, i'm not sure they stretch better than the Toyos.

That's a fuzion ZRi, and they run really narrow. Plus, going from an 8" to an 8.5" makes a pretty big difference in the amount of stretch.

both of those pics stretch is exactly what i want, nothing too much.
i wanted enough, but not too much bc like stated above its not a wide tire by any means, but im gonna work with it until i get the barrels changed up.

both seem to have the best stretch on an 8 with a 205/40, which would yall recommend for the set up if say i ran the 265/30 in the rears..
                          -452s
                          -proxes
                          -neogens
                          -zri's

btw moto, the wifeys car is dope!

Can you not get 195s in 18" fit?

                            I know mine are 17s, but this is a 195/45 on a 17x8.

Falkens do stretch amazingly well, I put a set of 205s on the back of mine. The 195s are Goodyears however.
