  • Looking for wheels... 8.5x15 with 4x100.

    As the title states.

Looking for some nice wheels for my daily. 8.5x15 ET somewhere in the 20-30ish regions. Bolt pattern 4x100.

Nothing too crazy expensive, but I'm mainly just looking to get a feel for what is out there since it seems to be a somewhat uncommon size.

I want to run them with 195/45 on my Golf Mk3 because these tire sizes will give me the chance to go very low and 195/45s are cheap haha.

I'm assuming used? Lots of new wheels available in those specs.

I'd check Miata forums, and Honda forums that are friendly to aggressive fitment, they tend to snap up all the good 4x100 stuff.

B2s might be available in that size.

Borbets are not available in 8.5x15, at least not the As and Ts.

Yes, used for sure. Don't want to spend a fortune for some nice wheels.
I'll see if I can find some of those forums to have a look.

I'm not sure about 8"... I like a wide rear, I'm not sure if I'll be satisfied with an 8"... 8.5" is barely enough as it is, but there's no way I could get 195/45 TÜV approved on 9x15, haha.

Though you're right about ebay and 8s.. 8x15s can be found a dime a dozne. 8.5s are very uncommon there... mostly I just find BBS RMs, RS and OZ Turbos (drooool, but a bit out of my price range).

8.5 is not a common width in 15" (monoblock) wheels, so it would have to be something rare, modular, or widened

              widened being the cheapest alternative

Hm... you're putting thoughts in my head which can bear no good results.

Don't want to go 16s... I could go as low as I want with 16s, but I'd have to run uncommon tire sizes (i.e. 195/40 on a 7.5 and 215/35 on a 9 for example) which cost double the amoung the normal sizes run.

Hm... Having a set of steels widened here in Germany is hella expensive, but you need some kind of papers certifying the strenght of the wheel to get it TÜV approved... and not having it TÜV approved means big fines and more traffic violation points... which I can't afford since I have too many of those as it is, haha.

well widened steelies are technically still steelies, so the TÜV report for them should suffice I guess, dunno

Nah, because of the modification done to them, any previous TÜV certificates are voided. And getting a set of 6x15s approved with 195/45s and then having them widened to 8.5 is a bit obvious.

Anyways, I did some more reasearch andI think 8x15 is fine too. A bit on the narrow side, but I can tolerate it, haha.

                        Any good ideas?

Oh, btw. This is the car in question:

Already had these on my old Mk3.

7x15s are common and too narrow for my tastes. 8x15s are rare as fuck and expensive.

I just did some price calculations...

I think if I find a good cheap set of 16" wheels, I might go with 16s instead and run 195/40 and 215/35. Should give me about the same wheel diameter meaning I can go as low as on 15s with 195/45.

                            /edit:

Somewhat good news. I can put this off for a bit longer... a friend will let me borrow some stock size BBS RMs until I have my own wheels.
