  • Need Help Determing Needed Stretch

I plan on taking pics of the wheel tomorrow on my car bolted up, without a tire (I couldn't lower it all the way with the fat ass tire it had, it would've sat on the fender). And before tomorrow comes I was wondering how do you guys mount the wheel, then lower it all the way, with no jack or jackstand so you guys can determine how much tire stretch you would need. Like, I think I've seen people using pieces of wood, is that how to do it? I wouldn't want the car to slip off or anything as they're pretty rare and expensive wheels. I plan on mounting it through this process and taking pics for hopefully some advice on which size tire to go with tomorrow. Thanks in advance guys

Would just use the jack to jack up the wheel/control arm to a ride height position. Leave the car itself on jackstands or blocks, whatever you're using.

If you want the car to look like the body is at ride height too, then use a scissor jack instead of a jackstand. Just be careful.

well I have one of the fronts, and what I was planning to do was leave all the other 3 with tires (different wheels obv.) on the ground, raise the one front side up, mount the wheel, then lower it, to a ride height, then take good pictures with my dslr so you guys can tell me what size/brand tire to get. That's why I was asking about that piece of wood thing. I could put a jackstand on the front axle I guess, would that work/be safe lol?

No, not really. Are you unable to do it how I suggested, with two jacks?

ya I didn't really understand what you were talking about, it sounded like you wanted me to have the entire car on jackstands or something. IDK, it doesn't matter anymore anyway cause I think the wheels are fubar'd. You can see the post here in my build thread: http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=52
