I believe you and I have had this same discussion before.. I really don't want to turn another thread into a replica vs real thread. If you want to continue this discussion we can take it to PM's.

They took a design, changed it slightly, and called it their own. Started a company, started making wheels, and now are technically a competitor to that wheel maker with damn near the exact same product.

They also produced them in a cast model instead of the forged that the Gallardo wheels are making them "cheaper"

Now take Rota Grids (which I have) they took "inspiration" from Volk TE37's and changed them up a little (more concave, slightly wider spokes) They also produced them in a less quality/less expensive way becoming the "cheap" side of the sales model.

Tell me how this is any different than what Roti did?

For the record, I dont give a rats' ass if Roti copied whomever they got their inspiration from. I think the craziness about copy wheels is the most rediculous fight going right now.

It is crazy because this type of stuff happens in every market, thousands and thousands of business models are made every year based off taking an existing product and making it better/higher quality/more expensive OR cheaper/a little less quality.

I think we just became best friends. Ive been trying to say the same damn thing in the other massive wheel fight on here

It hurts when I am right doesnt it. I dont need to take anything to PMs. This whole thread is about reps, everything I am talking about is relevant to this thread.

For shit sake, you are crazy enough about this that you said you "H.A.T.E." rep wheels
Do you know how rediculous that sounds?

I never said you were right or wrong? I don't want to derail another thread with the same arguments again. There are several other active threads on the same topics. Yes I despise replica wheels, I don't care about how "ridiculous" that sounds, its how I feel on the matter. I have no problem with cheap wheels, I have a problem with straight up copies.

And as far as Grids go. I don't consider them to be a straight up replica of the TE37, just so you know where I am going with that. But a ton of Rota's other wheels are direct replicas...

I honestly don't know what else to say because it seems like you are determined to make a fool of me in a public space.

            1) I have had enough of that this past week that I'd rather not have to continue that.
            2) I want to have a civilized conversation on a topic that has been beat to death already, I don't see why we can't have PM's about that.
            3) Why does someone have to think that there is a winning or a losing to this? In the end, we as individuals aren't going to change anything these companies do.

Cool dude, we both got it out.

You have an opinion, I have an opinion. We both feel strongly about them.

Whether or not I have replica wheels is moot compared to the point I was trying to make. You're making yourself sound silly right now by attempting to make a point which clearly has been made before. Feel free to state your opinion, but don't call people "ignorant" or "ridiculous" for stating theirs.

I honestly don't get what you're trying to say Karl. You're clearly for rep wheels and you're defending Rotiform for making wheels that took design cues from other wheels.

Nobody said Rotiforms were expensive knock offs of other high priced wheels. Merely said that Rotiforms are expensive as shit (which they are for being a NEW company) and that they took design cues from an already well known wheel design and called it something new.

So what are you really saying?
