  • Fucking bbs suck!

i picked up a 12 pt 8mm finally to unbolt my RM's & rebuild them so i can stop my leak...

started up on taking the bolts out, decided to go to one of the 2 bolts that were being STUBBORN AS FUCK.

started to loosen one up,everything was going fine then BAM...this happened

fucking $1.25 BOLT snapped in half.....how the fuck do i get the remainder of it out?
im fucking heated...now i have another asshole of a bolt to try and take out,we'll see if that one snaps too..

undo all the bolts, take the lip off and then weld a nut to the snapped bolt and undo, if it feels stubborn, drown it in WD40 or RP7

Drill it out, then there is a number of ways to get it out.

I have had this happen to me a few times as well.

only choose the drilling option if you are 100% confident because the bolts are high tensile steel and the wheel is alloy so 1 slip up and you can ruin a wheel

are the lips/face/barrels threaded too? i thought it was only a bolt on the front and a nut on the back, if thats the case shouldnt the bolt just fall out?

ive never owned a modular wheel, i apologize

BBS RS's use bolts and nuts, so in that case the bolt would've just fell out

BBS RM's on the other hand have the rear barels threaded and the front lips are beld on by the bolts screwwed into the barrel, thats what makes this such a PITA of a job if you snap a bolt, kinda like snapping a stud on the engine block

Can you just use a breaker bar on the nut on the back and try to shear the bolt off the stud? then just punch out the bolt..

so (unless im not seeing something in the pic) the top of the bolt is sheered off and all thats left is the back half of the bolt and a nut? the skinney part of the bolt and the nut should fall out through the back.

i guess im slow cause im really not understanding haha ill just shut up and color

                        lol.

If most of the bolt head is broken off cant you just tap it through (since im assuming the part on the wheel that the bolt goes through is not threaded..)

yup, I suggested that or you can take it to just about any machine shop and for 25 or so they should be able to get it out

the wheels in question are BBS RMs

so there is no nuts on the back of the bolts, the wheels are held together just by the bolts threaded into the barrel hence they can not just fall out
