  • Chalkboard Spray Paint on Rims..?

So the winter is coming along and my winter set of rims could use some refinishing.

I was thinking just sanding them down, giving them a coat or two of primer and for the paint ... Chalkboard Paint. So that its possible to write on them and just be a little more creative.

Has this ever been done? If so please share experiences or maybe even some pictures?

I don't think it's ever been done to wheels. Few things to remember. First, make sure the primer is as smooth as you can get it before you lay the chalkboard paint down. Makes drawing on them a lot easier. Second, after the paint has dried, put some crushed chalk in a rag and knot it, then bounce along the paint and wipe off with a paper towel. This will "prime" the paint so that it won't get scratched when you start drawing on it.

    Hope that helps.

Oh and post pics when you're done.

Ah thanks for the advice i'll definitely keep that in mind for next year. I was all for this idea until i went to a few stores and nobody had chalkboard paint so i just gave in got myself two cans of flat black and for this winter the wheels will stay like this but i am determined to have chalkboard rims in the future.

Once i do , i will make sure do take pictures of the entire process and final result. Thanks again

If you do it just on the rim not many people are going to be able to write on there...

The whole wheel though, different story.

Home Depot for black chalkboard paint. They may say they don't have it, but they do.

If you're looking for green, you have to get it online.

              What sort of wheel?
