  • Fender cutting

So the e36 guys will get this more than some.. When I rolled my fenders (back in the day) there is a rubber lining in the fender. I rolled the fender over it.. So instead of the lip being flush and metal on metal it is not able to roll flush and is like 5mm thicker because of the damn rubber is between the metal of the rolled fender lip and the metal of the inner fender.

Now what could I do to either A, unroll the rear lip and try to get the shit out.. or B, just cut the metal lip off and cut out the rubber. I would then just sand and respray part of the fender since it is cracked from hellafuckingpulling them. Could I get a carbide bit for my dremel and try it.

I really dont know. I am pretty creative and learn quick.. I just have to get this damn lip to roll flush..

    Thanks

Do you take the car to a local body shop to have the fenders cut off?

If there is any wheel or tire contact with the cut fender, wouldn't it bend/warp?

--OP, I'm in the same bind and really have to do something soon before my new wheels go on.

Sorry for not responding to this sooner. I took it to a local shop and the way they cut it left a very small lip on the inside so it wouldn't bend/warp if there were any contact. That's not really a problem for me though since my spring rates are like a bajillion. Hope that helps.

i would try to unroll it then get the rubber stuff out, not sure how the metal would do tho with all that bending, it would be better in the long run however to have the extra metal to support the fender

I need to do this on my e46 just dont know how to get the rubber out easily
