  • Stancing a Volvo... trouble inside... (Sawblade content)

Decided to test fit the sawblades today, just mocked them up with and without 10mm of spacers and without being able to bolt them up. The smallest adapters I can get are 15mm from MotorSports Technology and that is my gameplan, so they'll poke 5mm more than when I had 10mm of spacers in there. Which I think it all do-able.

I know I don't have any aftermarket suspension yet, but I'm working on getting a set of D2 Racing Coilovers since there aren't very many options for these cars.

    Onto the pictures...

One quickie of the best wheel of the bunch.

Front Without Spacers (doesn't clear the shock, otherwise sits pretty good for my liking)

Threw some 10mm spacers on to get some clearance on the inside... it's gonna poke a bit more with 15mm adapters.

Now onto the rear! I started off without spacers, it looks like it could clear everything but not without tons of stretch, once it goes lower it would definitely hit the inside of the wheel well, fenders will definitely need to be pulled a bit once all is actually mounted up, the rear tires will probably be pretty stretched too.

Then I threw on 10mm of spacers and everything sat a bit better.

Wellll thats that so far... gotta sell the Enkei GF-1's I have from my old car (before I really got into the stance scene), then I'll order my adapters. Saving up this winter to buy my new suspension setup, then all I'll still need are tires and of course to get these wheels refinished whether i do them myself or send them somewhere to have them refinished, that will all be determined based on the cost to get them refinished somewhere locally.

I'm just sorta fishing for ideas here, still have to decide on what kind of finish I want on the sawblades. My current plan is to get adapters, tires and then slam it all before I refinish the wheels because I'd **** to throw a few hundred into the Sawblades just to come up empty and not be able to run them. That will also give me ample time to make a quality decision on the color.

Since I know people will probably ask, I picked up the Sawblades for $100 from Craigslist, I first was uneasy and thought they were reps buy after finding out they are made by Enkei and that the stamping "Japan" on the inside of the wheel is correct I'm pretty pumped about my purchase, the chrome is all effed on 2 of them, kinda effed on another and alright on the last one. But the good thing is they're all uncurbed and straight so thats good news and definitely makes me more excited about getting these to fit.

Should be enteresting. Sawblades have kinda turned into the Alphards, but they look good on everything so no worries.

I personally always like the Blades when they are brushed faces and black inserts(OEMish). Or done all flat black. Esp on a red car.

keep them shits chrome! or trade me for my non chrome ones haha. looks like they will fit really nice, if they are the 17x9.5's i would say go 215-40s on them. that should make your fender issues alot easier. im putting some on mine next week i believe so i could get you pics of that if it helps? anyways i think the blades will be really great on your car

Funny you say that about Alphards because another Volvo owner I know has them on his 850 Wagon and I couldn't agree more. I have yet to see a car that didn't look good on them.

I'm going to try to avoid black. Theres something about black that screams "i'm not original" to me. They can look good in black but for some reason most black wheels don't catch my eye anymore and I want this setup to stick out and not go unseen.

I would trade for your non chrome ones but these ones are in shitty condition (chrome wise) they'll most likely stay shitty chrome until I have them totally fitted up on my car but that might not stay the case. I'm trying to decide if I should try to refinish them myself or if i should pony up the cash to get them professionally re-done. I'm tempted to keep the chrome, otherwise I might go for polished or just a base silver. I don't plan to have these really on the car until spring time so if that gives me enough time to try to refinish them myself and save some money i might do that.

        Thanks Guys

It's true... stancing volvos aint easy. The only thing I'm worried about is not being able to get it low enough to look right. We'll see though.

I was thinking polished face but then a dark red almost maroon windows, i feel the dark dark red might go well with the bright red on the car.

I looked into the process for stripping wheels of the chrome and then doing a full polish... Seemed like it would be a very difficult process. Hopefully I'm wrong, but from the research I did it just didn't seem worth it to me. Especially for pretty inexpensive wheels.

Hopefully someone can prove me wrong on this!

I think you have a ton of room to work with there. Don't worry about that poke at all... I think you could run 20mm adapters

I'm gonna try a 15mm adapter, then I can always throw a small spacer on it if it actually needs it.

I'm thinking I might just have them powdercoated... we'll see.

you need 30mm all around.. these are 17" sawblades right i can give you a # to have a set shipped two you in less than 2 days for under 150.00. i was pondering that on my blue volvo, only in flat white with red accents on the fins

I was thinking flat white actually... I wanted to do flat white widened steelies (not diamonds... widened) but then gave up, now i'm back trying to make a decision and I just love white wheels on red cars.

These are 17" sawblades... and 30mm will be WAY too much... that will poke like crazy... I'd be looking at a final offset of 26 on a 9.5" wheel in the rear and 26 with a 8.5" wide wheel up front... 30 is a bit too much.

Very nice! Give your paint, headlights, corners and taillights a nice polish, it'll really make the car pop a lot more. I've got an old red POS too and polishing all of my lights is the first thing I'm doing when I take my car out in May.

sounds like u'll need a little tire stretch and camber to make the 30mm works . all the better
