I have a question for the Merc enthusiasts- Why are many of the older style Merc's not fitted flush or overly low? Is it just a thing where most owners prefer a more traditional look, or is there a technical reason?
I ask because I am considering buying an older Merc. Can it be done!?
Youre right mate! unfortunatelly it requires massive bodywork to get flushed rears. Extensive cutting and welding is required. Front... no problem. It is the inner fender wich is actually about 2 inches almost horisontal right from the outer wheel arch. It can be done but you have to change the frame and that requires here in europe some calculations, re-inspection and qualified welding skills etc.. In some european countries it is considered illegal to do so.
