didnt see it as a battle. he doesnt DD here to see how bad the roads truly are. IL roads outside of Chicago are some of the worst in the country.

coast to coast travel spans very, very little. you can only view whats directly around you, maybe a mile at most in a flat area. your traveling through an area that is what ? over 1000+ miles wide. you see almost nothing in comparison to size while traveling.
