Right on man, I know the feeling of near death with some of the people driving like maniacs out there. I've only gone once in the last year, but it was about a month ago, and it was an absolute blast. I'm moving in August, so I figured I'd give it one more go and catch up with some of the OG Xceed members.

I hadn't had the chance to upload any "progress" pics until today. I've had a lot of people ask if the car was jammed out and whatnot. The entire car was disassembled (removed hood, trunk, front fenders, front bumper, rear bumper, spoiler, trim, doors, inner door trim, etc.) and sprayed (even all of the bolts were sprayed black, hinges and everything else sprayed the body color).

Excuse the pics, there's a mix of pics from multiple cell phones, my camera, and my buddy's camera.

            The very beginning:

            Doors jammed:

            Car masked:

Scuffed in preparation for jam paint:

Random parts prior to any body work/prep/paint:

Trunk and hood jammed, front/sides of the TZD kit painted:

Car jammed, pulled out of the booth at 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning:

Doors hung the Friday morning before Nationals:

Raced home with the wheels, grabbed the tires, had them mounted, back to the shop. All occurring in the afternoon prior to Nationals:

            Couple new pics:

I liked this car exponentially more before.

Still looks good. But before was something else.

Ditto. I thought the "enhanced OEM" look was super slick. But the revamped look is definitely eye catching. Dope either way honestly.

                      • Thanks for the comments! I know most like the OEM+ look better (with cars in general, not just mine), but I really wanted to go in a different direction for once and have something a little bit different than what I've always had. There's always the next one.

                        • Wow. What a change. I like the driver's side better for sure.

As long as you like it.

                              • I thought I'd stop back in here to update the Michigan crew! As for some maintenance "mods":

New rear tires, out with the old:

                                In with the new:

New TPM brackets and TPM's for 2 piece wheels with a center drilled valve stem hole:

I had to have the front lip repainted due to some cheese grater type damage from riding around too low. You can see it in the background of this pic:

So after having the car sit around for a few weeks like this:

I finally got the front lip repainted, tires/TPM's mounted, fogs replaced, front and rear cameras mounted (so I wouldn't bash the front and rear lips on any curbs/parking blocks), and got it back on the ground:

I also installed some new Koni Yellow adjustable struts. VERY pleased with the results. I can't believe I waited this long to do it!

I only took a few pics during the install, as I was mostly just punching things around me while trying to get some of the stubborn bolts out. Here's a shot of the rear, but you get the idea:

Ended up gaining a little over 3/4" in the rear from the struts. Before:

                                After:

As for some other random stuff, it seems to be one of those years with the air ride. My rear valves were connected in a single block which was mounted behind the rear bumper. I've always disliked the way I had the rears setup, but it took another issue to get me to actually do it. lol One of my relays was giving me issues, or at least I thought at the time it was a relay. After testing it independent from the switch box, I found out that it was actually my switch box that was going bad. Some of the switches started to give out after the last 6 or so years of use. Onto the fun stuff:

                                1. Split the rear valve block into two separate blocks, still being fed from a single line run from the tank.
                                2. Replaced the airline running from the rear bags to the rear blocks.
                                3. All new wiring from the box to the rear valves.
                                4. Installed a new 7 switch box.
                                5. When installing the Konis, I replaced the last remaining "old" bag with a new one from UAS. It was the driver's side front Aero Sport.
                                6. Installed new flexible leader lines to the front bags to replace the old stainless braided lines.

I'm back to being 100% functional and leak free, although I'm still wanting to install the Accuair setup eventually. I've decided to shift my funds over to something else for now though.

Brian (bagged silver Charger R/T) and I are doing side by side builds in the next two months. In addition to my existing mods (Intake/Magnaflow Mids/Corsa Exhaust/180 Tstat/Predator), we'll be installing the following into my SRT:

                                1. Inertia SRT MAX Cam
                                2. Inertia 6.1L Performance Heads
                                3. Necessary Install Kit/Parts
                                4. Tune

The typical stock SRT8 dynos around 360-375 HP/TQ. Obviously no dyno is the same, so there tends to be a bit of a range of readouts posted. With the mods I have planned (minus a torque converter in the future), the dynos show a consistent 440-455 HP/TQ, with most e/t's in the low 12's, and some with skinnies/slicks combo in the high 11's (11.89-11.99). Although, on 22's I'm hoping for a mid 12 second pass, which would at least make me a bit more competitive on the streets down here. lol Most SRT's with the same mods are trapping 115 +/- a few MPH. I ran a 13.01 at 109 with my current mods, so I believe my goals are realistic. I was going to go with either a mild boost setup (6 PSI on the stock motor), or a mild N/A build, and I've fallen in love with the way a 113 LSA cam sounds in an SRT. Surprisingly enough, I'll net the same HP/TQ gains from the N/A build I'm doing as I would from one of the 50 state carb approved Magna Chargers on low boost. It's not until you start to bump it up towards the 500HP mark that the F/I becomes necessary. Boost is in the future I believe, but for now I'm going with the tried and true way to get deep into the 12's with around 450 HP/TQ.

Brian's going a lot further than I am, but it's going to be a solid build! There's no doubt he'll be going with a new motor/boost in the future, but this will keep him happy for now.

                                1. Inertia Spartan Cam
                                2. Inertia 5.7L Performance Heads
                                3. Necessary Install Kit/Parts
                                4. SRT8 Rear End
                                5. SRT8 Brembo's

I'm a bit tired of getting run off the streets here on the east coast. lol There's so many high HP cars, and I'd just like to at least keep up a bit better than I have been in the last year or so. I wanted a nice bump in power, but nothing too crazy. At this point, I don't think Brian can be stopped though. Haha! He's got the bug. I'll make sure to take some pics during the installs. I'll post mine in here and I'll put up his separate. More updates coming soon!
