If by clear you mean clearcoat as in paint it, that would look awful. Rust tends to bubble through the paint.

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback and bringing this thread back from the dead. Those pics are sorta outdated.
Since then I've taken the hood off and stripped the paint off of the RS' on one side. Here's how it currently looks.
