  • E34 overlander (+ help us to IRAN)

    Ohai there Stanceworkerz!

I signed up more than 4 years ago, but haven't had anything too smart to post (like I have now), but I kept on browsing.

I've decided to show one of my hobby projects.
And, I need some help with voting in the next two weeks for a new project.

    What it is about?
    Traveling.
Travel, but not by plane, or any other fancy ways.
    Forget your jacked up 4x4.
    Na-ah.
Traveling in style, with a BMW E34.
E34 on wide rims, tires scrubbing, open sunroof, a nice long cruise.
E34 in remote locations, rolling kilometers.
    That´s the basic idea.

In 2013 I took a trip to the Western Sahara, through Europe with my friend.
We made a quick video, you can see it here:

Video of my trip with BMW e34 from Slovenia to Western Sahara in 2013. Altogether with Portugal it was 16485 kilometers of pure fun. All rights and credits for…

If you like this project, I could use your help in the next two weeks.
    E34 TO IRAN

    A quick trailer:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fM3u10nvIws

I want to take my E34 to and through Iran, with my colleague, another e34 fan.
But since we’re students that spend money on rusty old junk cars, we need some support to do it.
We’re taking part in a competition help by Dunlop in our country for the best travel/roadtrip project.
We’ve made it into the top 10 finalists but the winner is decided by a public vote!
This is where you come in, we need every help we can get, so if you’re willing to, please, help us out!

In return for your vote I promise we’ll make a better video this time, post pictures and share our experiences with you!
The voting process requires your email, it’s just a simple conformation email sent from Dunlop and it doesn’t subscribe you to any spam or newsletters you don’t want. It used to be a simple vote click but it has been subject to abuse so it’s now based on emails, 1 email address counts as 1 vote! The votes are open until June 15th.

    Vote here:

Since the site isn’t in English, here are some quick instructions on how to vote:

(It is simple, click on "GLASUJ" under our project 02, enter your email for Dunlop ocnfirmation of votes, open your email and confirm your vote. Thank you alot!)

If anybody wants I can post plenty of pictures, just ask, I will do my best to answer questions or share stories with you. Usually I talk too much, like a lonely old woman, so for now, some photos from 2013, SAHARA project:

You can follow us on assbook (the page has just been made and a is bit crippled):
Log into Facebook to start sharing and connecting with your friends, family, and people you know.

All hail to everyone who thinks a car is not just a transportation device from A to B, but can be so much more than that!

Hey Steeewie! Thank you alot, every vote counts!
e34 is really a cruiser, a perfect car for journeys.

This one, that I travel with and use everyday- you won´t believe it, but it is 518i, M43, 95 executive.
It makes sense- car can still easily keep cruising speed and also provides good gas mileage. And this engine turned out to be reliable and it is so small, that you can maintain it on the road. For example you can change fluid in transmision from engine bay, pull out icv/starter without taking apart anything...
It is an interesting example- 518i, but originally equiped with shadowline, dim mirror, sports seats, towing hitch, shadowline, rear sunblinds, air conditioning, etc. Visionary in some way, small engine, alot of equipment.

I also have a 540i, but that one is parked in garage for 4 years now, waiting for me to find time and start fixing it. But I just can´t find time with all ideas and hobbies.

Well we are strugling to get along with this lifestyle, but it is hard as a student, to find some money, study, maintain cars, etc. That´s why we decided to apply for this competition and we need help.
But it is cool, e34 is one hell of a car and it is beautiful to find new places, talk to people and also- when you inspire other people to also move and travel, it is amazing. Feedback from Sahara project was more than I even expected, I did the video for fun, so now we are taking this more serious!

daniel_lucian, thank you alot! We will also do our best, to bring a piece of this trip to everyone in video and pictures!

                Hey L_O_O_M!
Thank you for your vote, with every vote we are closer to our goal! It is really a joy for me to see people supporting your idea! I promise if we win, I will do my best to provide as much material as possible. (There are hard internet restrictions in Iran, but other countries are no problem).
I posted the video from Sahara 2013 up there and yes, we love Africa! It is an amazing place, altough I drive for only a small part of it, I enjoyed every single kilometer!
                Tnx again!

Because you can? and I was never there?
Haha no, seriously, I think it is an amazing country, worth exploring. and I found out, that these countries are enjoyable to travel, more relaxed, gasoline is cheap, so you can do long runs, etc. And Iran I have hared alot, that people are incredibly friendly. Now it is time to check it out.
