Sorry i was not aware of the 2 photo rule. That was the only photo i had finished editing the other night.
Im Joe from West Haven CT.
Truck is an 85 S10 2.5L (iron duke) 4 SPEED 160k miles. its TBI, power steering, no a/c, and the interior is mint. picked it up for 900$ end of last year. it was decent when i got it, not a lot of rust/rot. drivers door was a loss it had been hit by a plow truck.
i planned to restore the truck to original condition and lower it a bit. i tow a jet ski with this so it has a hitch and i did 2" springs, 2" spindles. 3" blocks, 3" leafs, and drop shocks all around. next i replaced the 3 piece grill and radiator support with the newer 1 piece conversion. replaced both rockers, fenders, wheel wells, and drivers door. i acquired a bed off a bagged truck that the floor had been raised 8" on. not necessary for my application but it was cheap and the extra room is nice in case i go lower.
the wheels are what set the theme of the truck the moment i got them. my original plan was to just repaint it a nice fresh color. but after finding the 14" baby moon smoothies i knew this truck was gonna look good with an old school twist.
i stripped all the paint with a 4-1/2" angle grinder and about 17 sanding pads in a little under 25 hours over the course of 2 weeks. i wanted to clear the truck as raw steel, maybe add some single stage black to the clear to tint it, but after researching it i decided it wasent for me.
the truck sat un treated raw steel for two weeks, naturally when you want something to rust it wont hahaha. i lost patients and decided to accelerate the process i went down to the beach and grabbed myself a 5 gallon pail of salt water and every night for 4 days just after the sun went down i rubbed the truck down in a salt water bath and then rinsed it with fresh water the next morning.
im happy with where its at now. it gets alot of attention. my most frequent question is "are you gonna clear it" and i tell em all the same thing.... i dont have any intentions to, NO.
