Actually, you're kinda right, but, not that right, don't forget that Bulgaria is in the EU too. It's all Romanias fault, because the registration tax here is huge, about 2000 euros on a E36, an in Bulgaria it's around 350 euros.
This was before they were in the EU They wanted 12,000 euros for the Crown Vic he imported because it had a v8, so he tossed the car, it carries steel around a factory now with no plates... and they wanted something like 20,000 for each of his SUV's so he went to Bulgaria instead.
Most of father's cars are registered in Bulgaria to avoid EU taxes.
