Fenders need love
Needs a full respray
Passenger front wheel is slightly bent and has a slow leak
Needs a new headliner
Exhaust should be refitted
It's only a 5 speed
It doesn't lay frame
And it's done 160,000 miles...
...when my '02 is on the road I'll show this some true love, until then it's a daily beater
I assume you're running a tune since you're having soot problems, 'cause it should not be sooting up that bad in stock trim.
My old Dodge smoked a bit on startup if I had a heavy load. The best solution I came up with was to clay the beejesus out of it, then put on a coat of sealant and synthetic wax, with a thin coat of carnauba every other time I washed it. Never got soot buildup after that.
Yeah, It's a mild tune and straight piped from the cat back. I figured clay and wax would take care of it, but it's not really worth the effort considering the rest of the car. The soot has really worked itself into the swirls as well as the slight cracks in the paint from the P.O. probably backing into a post. By the time I plan for paint, I'll certainly plan for a new rear valence and might as well just get a new bumper as some of the attachment points are zip ties... Thanks though, that will be the plan with paint or the next TDI I get.
Can you share a pic of how your pressure sensor is mounted? I had one freeze up on me and break, which happened because water was allowed to pool in it. It hit 32º, and that was that. I rotated it 180º on its manifold, and it hasn't been a problem since.
