  • '85 VW Gol MK1

    Hello there, everyone!

I was waiting for this new parts to arrive so I could finnaly start the build thread of my car.
As some may know, it is a 1985 Volkswagen Gol BX (from the Boxer engine) MK1.

It is aircooled, what may surprise many. It was the first car in Brazil to feature the 1600cc double carburetted aircooled engine. I got it redone on the very week the car got home, and now I made some styling, like the Beetle roofrack, the stickers (StanceWorks' hasn't arrived yet), the red rims, the whitewalls, etc.

So, it was the right time for me to make a little photoshoot. And it is a pleasure to me to share the pictures with you guys. I know the car has a LONG way to go yet, but it is just a matter of time (and money, haha)

The car was featured today on a brazilian blog, and was the feature with the most page views of all the blog's history. The link to the feature is here: http://www.dirtykids.com.br/beta/?p=236

    Here are the pictures:

Hope to hear some feedback, and I'll keep you guys posted!
    Thanks!

Way too big in my opinion. Even with a healthy drop I think it wold look awkward. Nice car nonetheless, looking forward to where this goes!

Ok, so here comes the context I promised:

I tried to fit the wheels with the suspension setup I had at the time. I just ended up destroying all 4 fenders, especially the front ones while trying to steer.

                        damage.JPG

After that, I repainted the whole car and widened the fenders 1", enough for it to stop eating rubber on the upperside.

I know the car is high, but I just don't know how to overcome the current problem: the wheels touch the "back" of the fenders, where they weren't widened. I'm looking for a solution, in order to try a hard drop. If it isn't possible, I'll try to trade those into some 15" or 16" RSs...

looks really strange for me... and the reason is too big wheels!

well, you can fit them, using smaller tires, negative camber, cutting/pulling the fender & etc., but the main question is: is it worth?

if you want to see your mk1 laying ot the ground you gotta choose 15's or 16's (exception).

No bigger than 15" plox! Too big wheels is a common "mistake" here, in BR.

Wider red steelies should be cool.
