BMW E61 Wagon. Fitment is finally aggressive enough to post in this forum, PIC HEAVY
Thanks for all the kind words guys, I replaced a rear bearing and am now just waiting for another part to come in the mail so I can complete my BBK install and then move on to finishing the Forgestar fitment!
In regards to those interested in the E39 M5, I created an ad in these forums (not sure why I didn't earlier). The car is located in the Bay Area, and really is a machine that should be seen in person to get the full effect....and sound!
Love it. Would love to see it sit lower all around though.
I hear ya. I toyed wit the idea of putting this on air but I couldn't justify the price. Since this is my new daily (in the Bay Area) and I wanted to run a higher tire ratio for protection and comfort. Also, the wagon will be seeing time in legit snow so my goal was to find a happy medium on coilovers where I could compete all these objectives:
1) Tire-Fender gap is eliminated
2) There is enough ratio/rubber for DD comfort
3) Ride height is high enough to alleviate speed bump crawl and bumper scraping
4) I can swap to winter-specific wheel/tires and have enough clearance for snow
This was a pretty challenging task since most goals were contradictive but I for a good-looking good-performing package at a static height I think I bauced this shit up.
Little bit of an update:
Wheels arrived but I had send the fronts back to Forgestar for some extra machining. They have returned and are mounted. Tires are Hankook V12 245/40F and 275/35R, again wheels are 19x9.5F and 19x10R.
I ordered the wheels prior to doing my OEM M5 brake install and with doing so and changing the rear hubs I effectively decreased my offset by ~20mm. In these photos there is a 12mm spacer but in a couple days I will have them swapped for 20mm H&R which should make the rear nice and flush. I a very pleased there is no rubbing on the front and there was no fender work done, I anticipate the rear to rub ever-so-slightly under hard compressions if at all.
I also have some 75mm studs on the front and 90mm on the rear.
Here are some crappy pics for now, I will take some better ones after the fitment is complete.
After these photos I adjusted my KWs as low as they would go. It sits about 3/4" lower in the front and 1" in the rear, not a huge difference but I looks way better to me.
