  • VW owners...

I'm prepping my car for the upcoming show season, tonight I pulled my rear rubber spring pads, I was already perches out all the way down so I figured my last option for a little more low would be removing these, any reasons why I should put them back in?

My god damn mechanic also torqued my top nut on my coils so I couldn't fucking pull my front struts tonight to take my helpers out because I don't have air tools...any tricks to do this with out an impact gun?

    Thanks.

you need a 21mm (?) offset wrench and an allen key.
i've neverdone it without air tools, so good luck.
and as for the "rubber pad" i assume you mean the spring isolater....which can be removed, no biggie.

all this is also assuming you're talking about a mkiv

Taking out that rubber pad is no biggie, I took mine out a couple years ago when I was still on coils. As for removing struts without air tools, good luck, that won't be easy lol

Big fucking torque wrench? IDK I didn't even tighten down my struts with air tools (should prolly check those). I know on MK5s if you just remove the top the bolts you can get the entire thing to budge... not sure how it is on 4s.

I've been rubberless ever since I got my coils... just how I roll

no worries on pulling that pad and you need air for the top nut or the special tool.

not necessarily but if it was tightened with air then yes. However i thought air wasn't supposed to be used because of cracking the strut bearings.

This is what I've heard too. I think you're screwed for getting it off tonight. I would just pop by a local garage, get them to loosen them and then drive home (hand tighten the nuts so nothing moves though.

And I have the same style of rear suspension in the TT and there's no rubber in da rear.

go to walmart and get the $30 impact gun you plug into your cig socket. has worked for 6-10 coil installs for me and friends!

rubber rear perch things arent necessary :P
