my previous e30 didnt come with a lip either, i never put one on either.

got big plans for this car in the stance department. i used to be in the e30 game when i was 15-16 but alot has changed since then. can any of you e30 guys point me in the low direction? i know the spindle is on the shock so whats the key to getting low without breaking the bank. im thinkin cigarette box low will be just right

my e30 didny have a lip when i recieved. they are only like $180 or something from the dealer. not bad at all.

cigarette box low on a coil setup in an e30 is pretty much not driveable unless you have some seriously refinished roads. spindle on shock wut ?

the cheapest route would be to go with a GC setup and shortened housings. if you dont shorten the housings you wont be able to get that low. i tucked tire on unshortened housings :

              (195/50 tire on a 16x8)
and it still wasnt cigarette box low. you can buy the conversion kit for $400 and use some bilstein sports to stay low budget. i used bumpstops to stop my tires from meeting fenders.

Undriveable is subjective. I would love to lower my car even more and I would DD it still. Anyways GC/Koni setup and shortened housings are the way to go. Leave the shock spacer out in the front and shorten the housing accordingly, this way you'll have full shock travel while being really low. The rear is the only problem unless you like tons of rake. I only have a small amount of shock travel left in the rear which is why I can't go lower unless I want to ride around with fully compressed shocks. Shorter rear shocks or raised strut towers are what's needed. Now once you're low that oil pan is practically going to be on the ground so...space out the engine mounts as much as you can and if you're still worried about the pan get a skid plate made up that's parallel with the subframe for max clearance. And there it is the secret for success but don't forget about the wheels.

not at all. only the AST kit is like that. the AST kits are very expensive. they modify the strut housings to act as a strut itself. e30 strut housings are not like that. e30 strut housings use a strut insert.

The GC kit comes with instructions but instead of the 1" it recommends, leave out the shock spacer and cut accordingly.
