  • The beater that you miss.

I was just scrolling through some photo's of past cars that I've owned as I find myself currently uninterested in my 525iT. I've own more than my fair share of beaters, mk3's, miata's, a mighty max, ranger, blah blah blah. Then I came across the car that always surprised me. It was a multi color spray bomb black '95 Eg civic DX with a d16z6 vtec motor. Bought it already swapped from some wacko who went all out with red vinyl inside, sprayed it 15 different shades of black over the worst body work I've seen yet, wired it with LED's, you know what I'm talking about. It was rotting away before my eyes. But ran so well and was mechanically sound. I had more fun with that car! Built my first custom coilovers for it, handled like a champ, rev'ed it out all day long, and got friggin' 37mpg everyday. **** away, but I miss this thing sometimes. Can anyone relate?

I have had my share of beaters but my absolute favorite was the ugliest of them all..... 1989 Honda CRX. Had an underpowered 1.5L that just wouldnt quit, give me unwavering reliability when i was on the inchi ban college diet.
Other then the unstoppable reliability, the best part of this car was that it came with tons of OEM spare parts which i ended up using on my auto cross project car or ended up selling them for more then the cars purchase value.

Saddest day of me and this car was the day i spotted it at the local pick n pull auto parts yard, albeit 6 years after i owned it.

but in its sacrifice it allowed me to build my Auto-X warrior (before the days of my stance ambitions)

Definately can relate. I get attached to cars very easily. And when I say attached, I mean that I still have my first car (my project car, my DD, my only car). There's just something about a car that pokes you and says "Hey, asshole. Don't sell me.". Because Lord knows, I've been close to it..

In the end, glad I didn't.

I miss my old POS b2300.. Owned that truck for 5 1/2 years.. It was almost mint when I first bought it.. At one time I had plans to turbo it but once I started buying stuff I feel asleep on the highway and crashed into a jeep. The body was now wreck so I abandoned it and bought another ranger for the project.

Been beating the crap out of it daily, and never been able to blow it in 130 000km of abusive driving.. Yeah at the end it looked like a real piece of crap but it always got me to work daily without any worries and was just indestructible.. I finally got an inspection to pass before winter and ended up scraping it.. Kept the head, tranny and driveshaft as spare for my turbo truck..

Was forced to buy a new car in 2 days, so I ended up buying a 2000 civic for this winter... God I **** that car.. I'm buying another truck as a DD this summer for sure.

I miss that nice truck for sure. LOL

Only pics I have are during last year..

I miss my dc2 integra gs-r with open header... it wasn't TOO loud for my standards below 2500 rpms but when it cracked Vtec it would pop anyone close ears.

For me it was my 85 Subaru GL Wagon. I love that car. I sold it a year and a half ago and I just found it this week in the back of a dealer lot. I hope to be reunited this weekend.
