  • Does this void the warranty? A tribute to Mike Burroughs.

My focusing gears locked up on the lense, I was drunk, I have more gear getting shipped to me on Monday, seemed like a good idea. I am sure a lot of people dismantle an 80-200 2.8 lense to see what the problem is knowing full well they have no clue how to fix it.

I have no intention of putting it back together. Its in the garbage, unless somebody wants to pay for me to part it out.

Woah, Zoom lenses sure look complicated... I've taken apart a few old manual primes and thought those were pretty tricky already... I can't imagine putting that up there back together again... too bad you have no intention of doing so, hah.

I'd do the same thing. I can't stand working with tiny fragile things. I always wind up breaking them, cussing at them and throwing them, or both. I wouldn't have tried to put the thing back together either, partially because I have no idea about inner workings of a photography lense.

The inner workings were pretty complicated, even to take apart. I just like to tinker and see how it works from the inside, and since it was damaged and I have another 80-200 2.8 on the way to the house, it seemed like the perfect time.

There was no cussing or throwing of anything, although we did have a grand finale which involved a hammer.

Because nothing says legit like some composition.

Not at all. It was a great time, it gave me a reason to drink beer, and the lense was all sorts of fuxored already.

off topic...but yeah, fat tire is where it's at. actually anything from New Belgium.

I literally was laughing out loud when I saw the 3rd pic. I'm taking little shit apart and fixing it all the time...I know now not to try and fix the girlfriends lenses.
