  • Just bought a W126 560SEL. Whoops!

I don't know anything about these cars, but yet another random craigslist find has forced itself into my life. Here are pics from the ad. It will be delivered to me this coming Friday.

Here are pics from the seller -

It has a lot of new parts and just needs some basic service work to make it run well again. Apparently the vacuum lines have started to disintegrate. The body is extremely straight (especially for a MN car) and it really only needs a front bumper to bring it back to original condition. It's a Euro Spec too, but the front bumper has been changed for a US bumper by some nitwit.

So, I am VERY excited. Good buy for $1200 delivered, right?

Dude, you are fucked. You have now been infected by a W124/126/201... Your life as you know it will forever now revolve around these cars. I've been affected for a few years now, you deal with it.

I talked to the PO for a really long time before I took the plunge and it seems like a great buy. He was very honest about what he bought the car for and why, and gave me a really good list of what it needs. Its biggest problem is that it sit for 8 years, but the PO basically fixed everything pressing for me already (radiator, battery, etc.)

My dad approves of my impulse buy and offered to go in "thirds" with me so he can drive it sometimes. Siiiiiiick

Car will be delivered to me on Thursday or Friday. Looks like another good "flex the credit card before tax season" opportunity.

Love these cars. I've owned a few, they even get decent gas milage, but yeah 80's Mercs are super addictive.

First I'll get it mechanically sound (for the most part) and bring it to the body shop immediately after that. I'll probably chop a coil or two off the front springs right away too. Once it gets into the body shop I'll fix whatever rust it has and replace the US front bumper on it now. After that I suppose I'll bring the interior and wood back up to par, plus at some point I'd like to see how my gold 16x10 BBS RS fit underneath it.
