  • 2011 bmw m5

I am sure many of you have already seen this but I figured I would toss it up on here!

BMW will launch the new M5 in 2011, the super saloon variant of the F10-series new 5-series family.

    • 4.4-litre V8 bi-turbo
    • 578bhp, 530lb ft
    • 155mph limited top speed
    • 0-62mph 4.4sec
    • Unlimited top speed 188mph

That direct-injection 4.4 lump is the same engine you’ll find under the hood of the X5 M and X6 M, but further tweaked by M Division to liberate more power. Forced induction makes it the first M saloon to be turbocharged.

Top speed seems a little low for that hp. Imagine it with a tune

Twin turbo is cool for sure, but I still consider myself to be a purist and feel that N/A M cars are most badass and thats the way they should be. Granted these cars are fast as fcuk, I feel like BMW is moving in the wrong direction and needs to stick to it's roots. I am not ready for change just yet.

the continuing gasoline prices and the environmental movement would disagree with you.

This engine is both more fuel efficient and more powerful than the outgoing V10 and also able to comply with the future emissions requirements the government is mandating

That thing is going to be a MONSTER. Are the turbos still in the middle like in the 750? that kind of blows from a tuning perspective. I foresee a lot of m5's with bulges in their hoods.

Understood as far as emissions and being "environmentally friendly". I am just simply stating that I am more partial to BMW's strength in building wicked naturally aspirated motors. That being said. this car is for sure going to be a monster, and as always with BMW, a dominating vehicle in its market.
