  • Old Brick.

I picked this thing up on a whim the other day..

    1983 volvo 244 glt

It was cheap enough, and I needed to head the direction it was in to meet a guy to sell some e36 stuff anyway so I hooked up my trailer, drove 2 hours to jersey and brought it home.

It was rough, didn't run and the wheels were black from brake dust and years of neglect.

I spent an hour or so getting it up and running (dead battery and some cold start fuel issues)

    An evening cleaning it up.

and another evening making one of a kind non- adjustable lowering suspension...yes I whacked the springs. Why?............Why not? I plan on driving it back and forth to work. I can handle the bouncyness. If I explode the shocks and struts, so be it. There are junkyards all over.

The wheels are 15x7 ARE 398's...I didn't measure the offset but the rears are pretty sunk,

These are just instagrammed Iphone pics so don't mind to awful quality and over editing. I'm no photographer.

    Anyway, here she is.

Any before pictures? Shows what an evening of work can do to change a vehicle.

I dig this. The bigger tires work with it. I'm planning on getting smaller wheels for my brick with some beefier, aggressive tire on them.
Looks like a fun daily for sure!

if you ever want to do to a real coil over system there is a way you can make it for just about the cost of parts which is only about 250 including shipping.

love the volvo though. really want a 244 or 242 with quad recatanlges. Nice find.

edit/ ever want to sell it im in the philly area!

Thanks guys, it's definitely turned out well considering the time and money invested.

Unfortunately I was in such a rush to make it look presentable that I completely forgot to grab before pics. Hopefully the seller can send me the ones from his craigslist ad.

I really don't intended to do much else with it aside from work on getting it running better. I've put about 200 miles on it so far but it still has intermittent starting issues and builds next to no boost. Once I get that squared away it'll be a solid daily.

Generally I don't keep a daily long. Its fun for me to buy a car, and turn it around like this. So, selling it after awhile opens up the funds to do it again. Essentially everything I own is always for sale, so if you seriously think you might want this in your driveway drop me a pm!

I rarely ask for opinion... I drive the thing so as long as i like it all is great. But I'm on the fence about the center caps. I love the raw look without them, but the classy look with them is a good one too. I suppose it's easy enough to just have them on some days and off on others.

check out turbobricks.com. they have a lot of volvo gurus there that will prolly be able to help if they dont already have a thread with the same situation solved already

I just signed up over there last night. I'm going to do some reading up and see what I can come up with. I'm definitely not the guy that joins a forum and my first post is "hey guys what's wrong with my car"

Im fairly certain that the turbo is shot, I've got a spare from a friend to try out so we'll see. As far as the starting problem a little kick with a spritz of starting fluid when it doesn't want to start and she's good to go. I think with some searching when I get a chance I'll surely find a solution to that.
