If I am not mistaken, all the W108's that have auto transmissions are a 4 speed. Mine cruises at about 3000 or so at 65, nothing crazy. If yours is really screaming, maybe it isn't shifting into 4th gear??

w108s came with a 3spd on the column, and a 4spd auto on the floor. mines a 3spd. Hunter's w115 is a 4spd and barely does 50.

and she'll probably go faster than 60, but the motor is absolutely screaming at 55 on the hwy. she doesn't shake or feel like she's going to come apart or anything, but I'm just nervous to push her to the limit.

I'm so in love with this, I think old Mercedes are some of the only cars where a drop is all that is needed.

Yea man, some people I run into really don't like that it's lowered.
For me, I feel like a kid in a candy shop around it, I feel a big body car just got bigger when it got closer to the ground. and the ridiculously designed rear diffs in these cars that cause the heavenly camber... ohhhh boy. this car as it sits, hits every point for me, and that's what its all about in my opinion!

thanks man! and it's changed hands a few times, our buddy hunter has it now, no compression in one of the cylinders and it's been sitting for a while. might just be a head gasket, if we're lucky.
