Hey guys. Some of y'all might recognize me from r3vlimited (freeride53).
Just finally joined stanceworks after a good few years of lurking and drooling at the amazing cars on here. I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay Area (Born in San Mateo, raised in Alameda)..so I am far more familiar with the Nor-cal crowd than the one where I have lived for last six months or so, down here in San Diego.
Really do miss all the roads in the East Bay hills, Contra Costa, Peninsula, and Marin.
But hoping to find all of the those incredible roads that I've heard about down here!
This is my car. Originally owned by my aunt/uncle, who had the car when they lived in Germany, then brought it over here, for the brief time they lived here before moving back to Germany. So the car sat in my grandparents' driveway for a five or so years before I bought it off my relatives when they moved back this time, for $800.
Car looked like shit, 4x4 status, ran terribly with numerous vacuum leaks, and had a bad timing chain amongst other things. I bought myself a few manuals, and with the help occasional help of my dad, and all of his tools, taught myself how to work on this car.
So basically where it stands right now, the car is running really nicely, but my M42's mileage is quite high, and with the bottom end getting weaker and weaker, It's days are numbered. So over the last 6 months with my spare time aside from the crew team and studying, I've been saving and purchasing all the parts needed for my 24v swap, which I will be completing this summer.
Really excited to get some more power out of this thing. But before I do so, I'm gonna take a nice last road trip with the car from San Diego, across the country, to New England and back in June.
Also, I've got 5-lug wheels that I scored off a JY E36 sitting up at home that I was going to mount with eBay spacers, but I'm still a little hesistant on running the 4x100-5x120s or just saving and doing a thorough 5-lug swap.
So that's it with story-time, you can read my full build write-up on R3vlimited, and here are some pictures that I have included below. Enjoy!
