Yep, they are Type A's. I acquired them through a trade deal for my Style 5's and got cash on top. They were brand new, never mounted, in the original boxes. I wanted something different, and less busy...so when I got this offer email I jumped on it basically right away.
They're the 18x8.5 +18et version, which from what I've seen are pretty damn rare. I picked up a set of "embossed logo" Flat Caps for them (which you can see in the pics).
I'm planning to keep the centers silver and do a polished lip. Should be picking up tires this weekend and then I'll be fitting them so I can order spacers (fronts are like 1/4" from my air lines, and that sketches me out lol)
Here's a few more pics, which definitely don't do the wheels justice. *Insert MOAR shitty iPhone pictures!*
Type As are great! Used to have a set of 16s on my MK3 back on 09
Polished them myself and oh boy they were a bitch to polish. Alloy was way harder than on other wheels...
I have a buddy locally with barely used Nitto Neogens (205/40/18) which I will probably snatch up. From what I've been able to find, those stretch decent and they wear well.
I'll definitely add some spacers to the rear wheels. Probably going to do a few mm up front, to help clear the air lines and then 5-10mm in the rear. It all depends on how well these tires stretch, though.
