I still dont see why you guys dont just take another car. You are risking your car, yourself, your passengers and other people on the road. So much up to chance on this... it seems like its just inviting disaster. Taking another car would be so much easier and better in the end.

Its a local car forum with people from all over the state into all walks of cars. You'll get responses from people who live near some of the mountains. I can pretty much promise you they'll tell you the same thing. Take another car or raise it up and put decent snows on it. As is I seriously dont think you'll make it unscathed unless you have the most wonderous weather ever.

VMR VB3's in gunmetal. Ahhh good to hear man. I'm so pumped to get on the slopes. It's all I can think about. A friend that is going with me went to Stowe last year and said it was great, but when I last spoke to him, he said Mt. Snow was supposed to be better than Stowe. Either way, I can't wait. Gonna be cold as hell up there. I checked the temperature yesterday and the base temp was 12 while the summit temp was 9

I'm taking my car instead the others that are coming with me because they drive hondas. One has an 04 civic, one with 02 civic, and idk about the other. I bought base bars for my car last year and am borrowing my uncles pod for all the shit we're bringing. It seems crazy to bring my car in those conditions after hearing about my wheel/tire setup but imo, it's better than two "near" bald snow tires in the rear. Last year when we got ~4 inches of snow, driving on an unplowed but already driven road...the ass end slipped out while going 20mph (was snowing so hard to see) and luckily I was able to counter-steer and get it back on track. The insides of the rear snows (wintersport 3d's) are bald..completely. Every wear indicator is flat on the inside...and barely any left on the outside. I was thinking maybe if I flip the tires, that way I'll have the good grip when it's worn right now but then on turns the end will slip out...ahhhhh mayhem.

Sounds like I'm just ranting..but there is a method behind my madness. I'm awaiting the first snow of the season (that I've been in town for) to see how well everything works out. Even if it's just 2 inches on the ground, it'll be pretty indicative of how they'll perform.

I've been reading on NASIOC about the subie owners and how they feel about them and there are a lot of mixed reviews. A few people saying they're great and others saying the'yre terrible in snow. Problem is, these could be coming from low experienced drivers that will skew the results.

I just got back from my fathers in VT right near Mt Snow, it was fine, and this was in a low RWD car with a welded diff, so you should be ok

There is snow on the ground but roads are fine, even my fathers driveway which is a private dirt road up this massive hill for a mile, which never ever gets plowed was fine, made it up no issues.
I was driving my Volvo 240 beater on coilovers. It isn't dumped but its lowered and diff is welded so that makes it fun in the snow

Lol, probably a blast in the snow under controlled circumstances...otherwise probably pretty dangerous haha. I refuse to drive a rwd car in the snow. Had an e36 328is a couple years ago and got stuck in my driveway lol. Not trying to go down that route again.

There's varying amounts of snow right now. In the champlain valley we have just a dusting barely an inch. Its been really warm here so far tho it just recently got damn cold out (its like 15, was 7 this morning) They have more snow tho up in the mountains/central vermont.

Nice update. I've been checking the weather there to see what it's been like to see if I should expect snow on the ground or not and all I see is single digits lol. Saw that the low was 2F... craaazy for having no snow. That's just brutal.

I appreciate the concern man. I've been in some pretty bad winter conditions but this will be a whole new experience...especially still being low. I think my only problem will be clearance if it snows a lot and/or stopping if it gets icy(having 4 people and a lot of shit only hurts your stopping power) but I think I'll be able to manage.I'll be sure to post some pics along the way and from the mountain conditions.

Funny thing to add... I just got wind that my parents are taking a vacation to Wisp a couple days after I get back from Vermont. So if the traction holds up in Vermont, I might have to add another trip to the count. Plus...more snow, and more importantly, more time on the mountain.

Went to bed and it was like 50 outside, I never checked the forecast.. woke up and its like 30 and 8 inchs of wet snow on the ground. She had to leave for work in the opposite direction and I had to work as well. Took me about 15 minutes to make it up the on ramp, just sat and spun and fish tailed.. then it was 30 the whole way with the 4 ways on in the slow lane up the mountains (most traffic was doing about the same tho as they hadnt plowed yet) Luckily I was behind a large truck and he was breaking path for me, or else I dont know if I woulda made it.

Almost went off the road twice and got stuck 4 times from bottoming out on that trip. What was a 20 minute drive normally, turned into almost 2 hours. I got alot of dumfounded stares too from people haha (he's driving that in this weather?)

Haha sounds unreal. Going to bed with it being 50 out and waking up with 8" of snow and 30 degrees would make me wanna go out an have some fun...unfortunately you were in your 350 lol. Same stance as in your sig? If so...I'm sure I'll be getting quite a few of the same looks lol.

Yeah it was crazy. I woke up and saw the snow piled up out the window along the sill and instantly bolted out of bed in shock lol. I got stuck turning around in her driveway because it wasnt plowed, then stuck again getting out, since the town plow had built up a big snow bank at the entrance to her driveway, then again pulling into a gas station for the same thing and then yet again pulling into my driveway. Had to use the wood boards I kept in the back to help free myself.

Yeah you will no doubt get some looks and compliments haha. Not many cars like this out these ways because its all red necks and muscle cars/trucks. Oddly enough tho, they all love it. I got nothing but respect and compliments from some of the redest rednecks. None of the "****" you see online from certain other cliques of motorheads.

I think we've all got some 2x4's in our trunks lol. I need to get one of those bags as a jack. I have to stack three 2x4's to get my jack underneath, I refuse to use the scissor jack my car comes with.

Car looks good though, I can definitely see why you had problems getting around in those circumstances.

Good to hear about the locals though. I'll be sure to bring a tow rope just in case...or maybe instead of being helped, someone else will need to be pulled out of a ditch or just stuck in general lol

Yah some rope will be a smart idea, maybe a big bag of kity litter too for traction if you get stuck or something..wouldnt hurt.

People are very nice out here, really friendly and always out to help others. Friendliest state Ive ever been in. Ive been helped out by countless strangers at various times, all really cool about it and approached me when they saw me in need, so if you get in a bind, I wouldnt worry too much.

Take lots of pics. If the weather keeps up like this tho, it will probably be 50 when you come and no snow..

Oh, and on the 2x4's and scissor jack..old, large phone books work awesome as "lifts" or ramps to drive on, since they're adjustable.. just flip the pages to the height you want ha.
