  • My Wife's Daily Wagon

Not the average station wagon that all the other moms drive.

When we got it last year....

Then we got rid of the horrible yellow...

She drove it like that for a while. Then at a car show this summer my wife saw a car and said hey paint my wheels that color. So I got something close but better.

    100_0951 by norcalfocus@rocketmail.com, on Flickr

Specs are 18x7.5 et37 running 215/35/18 For her and I they fit really well.

Then this last weekend a friend and I put on some coils. Its no where near where we want it yet, but its way better than before. The first thing my wife said when she saw it "Can you go lower?" I <3 her.

The rear end has much potential...

Once I figure out the route I want to take with getting the front just as low, I'll put the rear back down.

Let me know what you think.

Yellow was horrible. My wife used to complain that people would stare at her because she had a yellow station wagon. Also thanks, I like different and no one has done up a Focus wagon this way yet.

No bags. I got to keep it simple for my wife to drive. I go out of town for work often so break downs can't happen. Wheels, maybe. For now these are great for us.

Spraying a car isn't difficult, you also don't need a lot of expensive equipment. Many cars have I painted in the garage with a small HVLP top load gun and a shitty compressor. The important thing is that you take the steps to prep the car correctly. Great prep and you can use cheapo paint and it will come out great. You just need to know what you're doing. It's not hard to learn but there is a lot of steps and a lot of you have to do it this way not that way.

                          Looks good so far.

I h@te to be "that guy".....but why didn't you just buy a black Focus wagon to begin with? I feel like they aren't all that rare.....lol. Because now (i'm guessing) you have a black car with a bright yellow engine bay/door jams.

Yes I did. It came out alright. Long term plans are to strip it all and redo it with better paint. I used cheapo base and clear. The painting itself isn't hard, its the prep and the polish after wards. Shoot me a PM if you want any tips or things.

Well token internet guy....I don't half ass my paint stuff...

The underside is yellow still, but I've painted all the major parts including the engine bay. As to why buy a yellow car to paint it black, short answer I needed a car at the time and my buddy had this at a good deal. Black wagons aren't rare, but they're def not popular either. The blue, red, and white ones were the most popular. This one was yellow because it is a special edition (The Street Edition) It has a few interior upgrades and a wing on the rear. Nothing super special. So I got the upgraded items on a car that never came in that color.

She does. She also has a Focus, although it should be a Forester.
