Looks like the cross section of the cage is easily removable.

The cage has to be a bolt-in as a welded one aint "street" legal where i come from and yes the cross section is "easy" to take out but normally no people are on the backseat...

A little picture of mine next to a standard model of it ...well not 100% as the silver is a 5 door facelifted version but you get the point
