  • It's Not The Way To Do It...

    But I'm doing it anyway.

Those of you who know me on here have probably realized that I really don't post up any pictures of my car. Only a few have ever seen it. That's because it's a Sentra.

There isn't really anything wrong with Sentras, but they're not really conducive to stance. High rear end, live rear axle, and a front end about as aggressively styled as a dodge caravan. Even when they're "slammed" they still don't go that low. But I think I'm going to go for it.

Believe it or not, this thing used to sit a lot higher. The stock suspension on this car was just silly. For reference:

So I got some lowering springs. They didn't do a whole lot, so I cut a coil off of each one. That's where I sit now, still high and dry.

I'm not ashamed to say that I love this car. It handles well, it's fairly quick, and I got it for a really good price about 3 years ago. None of you guys have to care, but I think I'm going to stick with it.

The roof rack gets used, mostly to move things around for my job, but the stickers are all going to come off soon, as they've become an eyesore. I'm currently trying to fabricate some sort of grille for it (the stock one has a gigantic "bucktooth" in the middle), as well as find a lip that will give this front end some substance.

Moving into a new apartment and paying student loans unfortunately put my coilover and wheel fund on hold, but this is only temporary.

I'm open to suggestions for the future, comments, and criticisms. Thanks for looking.

You're doing more with your Sentra than everybody else. For staying out of the AutoZone and Pep Boys parts bins, we salute you.

It's surprising how little the car went down after the springs.

Cole I mean this in the best way, why don't you just sell it and get something else? Unless there is a reason you have to hold on to it, that's what I would have done.

Haha, any time, I lol'd hard at it. It's kind of funny being one of a very select few sentra owners with a taste for stance. When I was on sentra forums a few years ago I caught a lot of flak for not throwing cheap junk on my car.

I've kept it for its reliability, but mostly because of my financial situation. When I got the car, my step father co-signed for it. Basically, he won't let me sell it because I owe him a bunch of money and selling it would "complicate" my financial situation.

EDIT: Also, he would have to be present for any monetary exchange because I couldn't sign over the title by myself. It blows being 22 and being in this situation because I should be able to do what I want, but I really can't.

For real! Who actually loves a silver Sentra?

Kidding, it'd be cool to see this be completed but I highly doubt you'd love it as much as a car you actually desire that's in your budget.

The front end will always be as aggressive as a dodge caravan, whether it's slammed or not.

Edit: Read your response, that sucks.

Ah I had a feeling there was some form of reasoning like that behind it. In that case, just keep cutting springs, and save money pay your step dad off and then sell it, and get something rad!

That's the plan. In the meantime, though, I have to get this low. It's an addiction.

I have fun working on this car at least. It's a big step up from the car I had in high school.

Gotta say, even if you're not in love with the car having fun is hugely helpful. I look forward to seeing it lower.

Back when I was 22 and in college, I drove almost the same exact Sentra, but mine was white. I think it was a 2001 Sentra. Great gas mileage and reliability. That was the one and only vehicle in my life that I left completely stock. The main reason was being a broke college student and there was practically zero aftermarket parts for it back then. Back then most people were doing SE-R parts swaps and throwing wheels on them. It was a fun little car to drive though and I had a lot of good times in it. I can't wait to see what you do to it!

if you like it mate, you keep it going. Will be nice to see what you end up doing to it.

Keep having fun with it mate! I've had much worse cars mate, some have been great and some have been shocking, but don't let people dictate what you do with your car and your life!

Is there a lower front splitter you could steal from another car and mod it to fit?

I could do a front end swap for an earlier model year, but that would require new fender panels and headlights as well. I think I'll just be looking for some kind of splitter or lip to make the front look less rounded and a bit more aggressive.

Tell your stepfather that you're going to slam it on it's nuts and rape the fenders with wheels that don't fit the car. That could pursuade him to let you sell it, give him some of the money, and then you can go buy something older, cheaper, but worth modding. Just my 2 cents. I've just ***** these cars since my ex-gf in highschool got one lol
