that really won't look any different than what you have now. i recommend some federal 165/50s. they're really cheap and i've been very happy with the performance. IMO, only size to run on 15x7s if you care about the stance.

    here's some pics of mine on 15x7 et30 & et10 with 165/50s.

So how do the 165s grip? I'm used to a pretty wide footprint, how do those tires handle spirited driving? How is road noise? Wet weather traction?

i consider myself pretty sensitive to handling issues (lots of racing experience on 2 wheels) and I think they do just fine. i drive my car pretty hard at times and haven't pushed them past grip yet. i came from pretty good tires (dunlop direzza 195/40/16) and only feel a little less performance. the issue i noticed is that these feel a little uncertain when transitioning into a turn compared to the dunlops. i figure part of that is because the federals are a "touring" tread rather than performance. once you're in the turn, they're plenty confidence inspriring.

road noise is not an issue.

haven't had any issues with wet weather, but i always suggest taking it easy in mk2s. 2,300 lbs, no air bags or abs warrants backing it down a tick IMO.

Love everything but the tire size and rear fog. Interior is absolutely perfect and paint looks great.

If I were you I would wire up the factory fog in the tail lights. I had a Mk2 a few years back.Since I did rear window defrost delete on my Mk2, I used the rear defogger wire for the rear fog switch. If your defrost isn't working, I would do the same.

Thanks, and yeah, I will work towards a 195/45/15. I think that will handle my driving style and look MUCH better. Some more photos till then ...
