  • staggered style 5's / E36 M3

    just got these put together...
ill be splitting them back up and powder coating the centers at some point, but for now theyre just polished lips with black powdercoated bolts.

BBS RC040 fronts w/ 15mm spacers, BBS RC090 rears, ground control coils

i also have another set from combining the wheels ill be doing another build with.

enough blah blah here it is -

black bolts are a nice touch! What ideas for color were you thinking for the centers?

LTW splitter looks hot too! I don't see many of our kind with them. maybe lose the supporting rods?

yeah, boring, because every 2nd e36 is with the same set of wheels, other than that i'm not a big e36 fan at all...

the centers of these are planned to be toothpaste green, i have a pretty involved plan for the other set that im staying quiet about until i can find places to do all the parts of it.

it took two sets because the fronts are the rare euro only E36 fitment style 5's... they came on m tech packaged cars in europe, and ive read they are even lighter than the LTW wheels. the nice thing about these wheels is that they clear the M3 front brakes while the E39 wheels most people run square on other 3 series have clearance issues on the M's. the bad thing is that the rear wheels leave a lot to be desired in the offset area, so i decided to get another set of E39 fitment style fives to run on the back... plus, i love the look of staggered lips.

as far as ive personally seen im the only person running a staggered set of style 5's in this set-up.

What are the offsets? BBS numbers mean nothing to me.

I just sold a set of style 5 faces of ET10 (8J) and ET19 (9J) ones to a friend and stuck some style 19 faces in the staggered barrels.

edit, Oh right I see what you mean in the pictures now, the fronts are those lame ass ones with no lips at all ? So when you say staggered does that mean 7.5/8, rather than 8/9?

@tyleR - no bad feelings, your car is looking mint, but e36 + style 5's = played out.

E36 fitment are 7.5" ET41 to clear the M3 brakes (you will find that most all E36 M wheels are high offset for this reason)... the rears are the 8" ET20 E39 fitment wheels.

thanks, i have to disagree that a period correct OEM wheel can get "played out" but i agree its nothing new.

                              Couldn't agree more.

The OEM+ look doesn't get played out, it stays classy.
