  • Ratted out my Benz

I totaled the car last winter, no insurance, still runs great but now its worth shit. So I had some fun with it. Welcome back to 2008, I wasnt finished with the trends yet, ha.

After playing with a few different colors, I decided on Flat black and copper brown accents. The paint is a single stage flat, I sprayed it, let it dry then wet sanded it and sprayed it againt to look like a rattle can job... not sure if I like it like that or will spray it again to look cleaner, honestly I dont really care either way, its not suppose to be clean. Wheels and roof are copper brown metallic to somewhat match the rusted hood.

**** it or love to ****, I dont care.

THEoretically, that's hot. I just don't like it. It looks off for some reason. Maybe the wheels. I can't put my finger on it. But the work looks good.

Did you clear coat the hood? Glossy rust?! That is pretty cool, actually.

However I'm not a fan of the overall look.

I still have the new hood for paint. The rusted one has been sitting around for months now, and I was curious. I actually like it enough that I may rust the trunk too.

Dammit, I have to work. Thaks for the heads up though.

I never liked the rusted hood fad either until I saw an Audi with one and I liked how it surrounded the grill. I figured, what the hell, the hood was just about to be thrown away at that point anyhow.

It's ALMOST there. SOOOOO close. The hood looks BA, but the different hue on the wheels and hood kill it. IMHO, flat black the lips and do the faces in a color closer to the hood- oh and smoke the headlights. Also, flat black the roof and rust the trunk. I think it could work, but it's not quite there. Could use tintz too.

                          Just my 2.

Can i ask why it was "totalled"?

Otherwise rust the roof and bootlid and it will be magic

Its actually sprayed with a gun to look like a rattle can job...spur of the moment idea that wasn't too well thought out. I have more paint, so no biggie.

and Im trying to figure out how to go lower, the front wheels are rubbing during turns now. Im working on it though.

This is close to whats been racing through my head all day myself. I just finished the car last night and today is my first daylight to look at the thing.

My thoughts are to lightly spray the hood with the copper brown so when it rust through it will give it more of a matching hue.

Rust the trunk. and follow same procedure.

                              black out the headlamp bezels.

                              blacken the wheel lips.

                              Go lower.

The paint looks different in different kinds of light, it actually matches better than in the pics i took today in the rain.

Jumped a curb and hit a gaurd rail head on at 40 mph, fucked up the front pretty bad, and after hours of adjusting body parts, I still cant everythig to line up properly because of the damage. It runs and drives fine though.

Id rather not rust the roof.

Here's a before pic, and this is the hood i rusted.
