Yes, it IS unusual (I've never seen one before) and looks decent, but that doesn't make it feature worthy.

The car does have a lot of potential, I could easily imagine this sitting crazy low (and this one isn't that low, even though the article revers to it as, quote: "INSANELY low!!!" - he can fit his krey upright under there, thats not insanely low by a long shot ) on some wide 18s with lots of dish and some camber. If executed right, that would bring it somewhat nearer to be feature worthy, but it still takes way more to make a car worth writing about in a feature.
I am not saying your opinion about whether a car is feature worthy or not is wrong, but I do want to respectfully point out that this guy is definitely stepping up his game and doing something different. It may not have the craziest wheel offsets (It's already 0 offset c'mon) or be laying frame all the time. But to me this is a car that deserves a feature. It's creative, It looks good, it's low (Yes, I know people have different opinions of that definition but if your ride height is a car key most would consider that to be low) it's driven daily and its never been done before. This is not a trailer queen and its just something out of the ordinary that definitely deserved some attention whether it be from critics or supporters. H****s gonna ****.

Personally I think its just a shitty ass wheel selection (for the car) that throws the whole look off. They look good on the MKIII, but not on the Avalon

Wow... I love unusual cars like this. It takes guts to modified those kind of machines :P Two thumbs up!

I think you're missing my point.

Yes, the car IS unusual. No, the car is not feature worthy simply because theres not enough done to it. Drop + wheels does not equal feature worthy, no matter how rare it is to see a car like this modified.

And yes, it does deserve attention, but more in that "oh, that's kinda cool and interesting" but not in that "woah, goddamn it!!!" way that a feature car should have.

To be honest, it's this attitude you're putting up here, "oh it's unusual, gotta feature it!!" that's been 'destroying' the blogs lately as it's really pulling the standards down. Being a unusual car should just be something that, while it does matter a bit, is not that important in the selection of a feature car (it matters in the way that if you have an usual car and an unusual car with the exact same mods/style, then you'd rather choose the unusual car, get what I'm saying?). What really IS important, is what has been done to it and with what quality? Is there maybe any fabrication work or some innovative stuff involved? Being feature worthy is about pushing the limits, being innovative (this car in question being unusual lays a great corner stone for that but the rest isn't there yet) and being something that people will remember and get excited about. And since we're here because of stance, that is the most important thing that should matter - the stance of the car. To be a feature car it needs something to truly set it apart, crazy lowness, crazy poke or an insane flush fitment right down to the last millimeter, or maybe a clean package of all three combined.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the car down or something, just saying it's not something that deserves a feature - yet. Maybe whatever he does in the future will make it truly deserving of one.

I do think the car is interesting and I'm looking forward to what direction he's taking it in.

              ^ Agree 100%

Dude, you are a friend of the guy so I dont expect you to be able to stand back and see it for what it is. I kid you not, there is one VERY similar in my small town in South Dakota.

And if those are zero offset, go -30 ................what you have shown us is not unusual in my opinion what so ever. You put some 16" wheels with massive tires on it and swapped in some sport springs........... on an Avalon which is a lawyer's point A to B car.

If you want to be "unusual", push the limits. Put some air under it, 18x9 front 18x11 rear with 0 offset, get rid of the super swamper tires etc.............. until it looks like a Toyota Avalon that a used car dealer put a set of wheels on they had sitting in the back to try and appeal to the young kids..... which always fails.

I'm glad that you have some good ideas for the car. If the owner reads this, which I'm sure he inevitably will he will get a better idea of another direction he could take the car in. Thanks! (btw the e30 in your sig hella bueno)

Bumping this long dead thread in hopes someone has more stanced Avalon content? I'm debating buying one.
