  • Back from the dead - Sorta hoodride status MINI

Ugh I havent been very active in the "stance" scene the last few months. Just had to get some new wheels since my last set got stolen. Since I live in the hood and stealing wheels is one of my neighborhood's favorite pastimes, I opted for DR steelies. I dig em. If you dont, deal with it.

So I threw the bastards on yesterday and snapped a couple of photos. I'll try and get more soon but I'm kinda lazy. I need to lower the rear a little bit too cause my new tires are a little smaller than my old ones. I'm gonna start showing my face around meets a little more so look out for my hooptie on the mean streets of Miami.

Yea but I had to go with 195s instead of 165s

Next time I'm at least running 165s up front. I'll go redneck style on em if I have to.

I like it alot better now too

Lets see Ive had mine for 2 years and here are my complaints so far. I'm the 3rd owner. 2005, 76,XXX miles (26,XXX miles were put on by me.)

            -A/C broke ($2800)
            -Cooling Fan broke ($400)
            -EVERYTHING ON THE INTERIOR RATTLES
-Both doors are difficult to open from the inside (sometimes you pull and nothing happens)
            -Exhaust rattles
            -Rain sensing wipers dont work
-E-brake light randomly comes on and draws power away from the wipers and headlights (really sucks when its raining cause the wipers just stop)
-A/C broke AGAIN (not good, I live in miami)
-Passenger door now doesnt work at all (no lock/unlock and doesnt open)

I know every car will have it's problems (especially when you have almost 80k miles on it) but these cars just feel cheaply made. BMW could have done alot better (especially since they aren't exactly "cheap" to buy)

That said, I think they look great and are often overlooked as a great platform in the stanced scene. And they're tons of fun to drive

Why'd you end up going so skinny on the wheels while still poking that much?

              Looks good though man.

Easy, buddy. Wasn't insulting you or anything....I was just curious.

My 8.5's poked but that was years ago and no one had tested the whole poke fitment thing on MINI's before so it acted as the test subject. Lessons were learned

Im just messin with you. In a perfect world, I'd have perfect wheels. These'll do though.

Hows the clubby? Ive been out of the loop for a while. Last I saw it was on the Audi monoblocks.

Im def thinking air ride next. There are alot of places I cant drive my car right now. Important places like the grocery store and my driveway.

I haven't touched it since you left the loop, honestly. Lowered the front some more, but that's about it.

Car is looking good dude. White was a good choice for the blue

Thanks man, it means alot coming from the king of MINI stance lol

I like the white too. I was a little apprehensive at first but since I grew out of my MINI noobish "blackout" (plastidip EVERYTHING) phase and put some chrome back on, I think the combo works well.

I love minis and urs looks good but i reliability has scared me away just like it has on vw products. I have two infiniti g20s and a first gen nissan se-r between the three we are at 3/4 of a million miles and every still works on them and not many issues othere then power steering rack leaks a bit on the wifes car but hey it has 240k...lol
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left

I really doubt my MINI (or any MINI for that matter) will make it to 250k on it's stock engine/transmission. I've heard of a rumored 2002 Cooper with 300k on it but its on its 2nd tranny. I have a friend with an 02 with 17X,XXX on his stock tranny though.

The first gen A/T (which I have) is notoriously bad (and hideously expensive to replace.) Im honestly surprised I'm still driving on it *knocks wood*
