there was too much wood before, looked like someone put a paddle from a boat in there. Now it goes with the car better imo

i really liked the wood, but i think the carbon matches the car a better. if it was mine i probably would have gone with a grey wood dip. best of both.

The great thing about vinyl is you can change it when you feel like...

Maybe find some Badass wood grain? I do agree the original wood grain was terrible, but Like I said, carbon doesn't really scream class like the rest of the car..

I think it's an improvement over the faux wood Jeremy... Contrasts way better against, an otherwise monotone color theme.

I'm with Mike, in that a dark burlwood would be fantastic in there.. Maybe something for the future, if you intend to keep it for a while.

              Thumbs up overall.

Looks lik you did a really good job laying the vinyl though, I must say. But, I agree, a black/grey woodgrain would be the best option though.

If the woodgrain was a nice, traditional woodgrain I would have dug it a lot more. Carbon fiber looks better than previous layout.

The problem with finding a dark wood grain vinyl is that it wouldn't have the same clearcoat depth effect. I think I need to pull the whole dash cover to get the airbag piece off. Tinted clearcoat would be good atop the factory wood, but more than I am willing to sign up for. The 2005 Sport model had an Alcantara and Carbon Fibre trim option (mine's 2004) - so it is almost correct. The texture of this stuff really pops inside the car and the matte finish goes well with the factory leather/vinyl + the charcoal trim in places.

Regardless of rationale, it's my car and I'm happy with it, so it's staying as-is. That is unless I get tired of it - something that also happens a lot with me.

finally some people who see car interiors the same way i do!

wood grain is poop, unless you're driving a rolls royce that has real trees in it...

my biggest complaint with wood trim is that all the interior does over time deteriorate, but the wood grain doesnt so if you have a busted interior and immaculate wood trim it looks absolutely terrible..

this looks 100x better imo, well done

look into water transfer printing. it costs a little bit of money but is the same process that oem use. the part is basecoated, the graphic is transfered on with a desolvable film in a tank, then cleared.

I dunno bro you know i'm all about your builds but I just can't dig this. I **** CF especially in a luxury car. I agree that the shade of wood they chose for the x-type wasn't the nicest but why don't you just strip it and stain it darker or have it professionally painted?
