So I was offered a 1989 325i engine and an 88 e28 engine for a total $500.
89 has 80k miles.
88 has 170k miles.
So... this may become a project car.
My dad and I have always tossed around the idea of rebuilding the engine, and I think this is a screaming opportunity.
Yeah, I've always wanted to rebuild or swap the engine with my dad. He worked on cars for a long time growing up, worked in a machine shop, built bicycles. He's my idol and I think it'd be a great opportunity for us.
The engine isn't anything special, but I'm not looking for horsepower. I just want to have a newer engine with less miles that my dad and I have swapped in to the e28 with our own hands.
That's awesome... it would be great to have that opportunity with your dad. My dad is only interested in airplanes... which is fine, but it's what I do for a living.
Power isn't everything, but you should be able to get a decent improvement at least. And the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Lol my E30 is a joke as far as power goes, but I plan on keeping an M10 in it.
So the plan if I get the engines is to combine the 89 e30 and the 88 e28 engine to create a solid 2.7l stroker. I'll have to do my research, but I've gotten some general information about the "build" from a friend. So we'll see.
Sorry to keep updating this, I know she isn't the best or lowest...
More low in the back. About 3/4"
Once I get home this weekend, pull my fenders and add on some spacers I may drop the front down a half inch. Although I don't think my front springs are doing anything any more...
